I’ve been sitting with something lately, a reflection sparked by someone’s story. It was raw, full of energy, alive with motion. A season of change. A willingness to leap into new experiences, new places, maybe even new versions of oneself. And I genuinely admire that especially when you have a family and career already on your plate. That kind of boldness takes something rare.
But as I read it, something else stirred in me.
Because I’ve heard this story before, bold declarations of new chapters, new adventure, the need to move on. And it made me pause. Not because there’s anything wrong with turning a page but because this particular rhythm felt familiar. A pattern, maybe. One I’ve witnessed before… and perhaps even lived myself. It made me reflect not just on their path, but on how often we all seek reinvention when something deeper is calling for our attention.
And as I sat with their words, another thought quietly surfaced a question not meant to challenge their journey, but to reflect something deeper back:
Could this be the journey back to yourself or away from it?
What if the thing you’re searching for out there is waiting for you in stillness?
Is this growth or a beautifully disguised form of avoidance?

Because here’s the thing: constant movement can look a lot like growth. But sometimes, it’s distraction dressed up as purpose. One adventure leads to another reinvention, another pivot, another shiny next step. It can be exciting, even intoxicating.
But what happens when you stop moving?
What happens when you let yourself simply be, no chasing, no proving, no “next thing” to plan?
Stillness can feel foreign, even uncomfortable. But it’s often in those quiet moments the pauses between chapters where we meet the parts of ourselves we’ve been trying to outrun. There’s a depth that only comes from being fully here. A kind of peace that doesn’t come after the next shift, but in realizing we don’t need one. That we are already whole, even without another summit to reach.
So I wonder: are you being pulled by something deeply aligned… or pushed by something unresolved?
I say this not as judgment, but from experience. I’ve had those days when everything “clicked.” Work was thriving, goals being met, recognition pouring in. That feeling of being seen, energised, exactly where you thought you wanted to be. And then suddenly… something shifts.
You wake up craving something wild and free. You start thinking about buying a camper van, living off-grid, chasing sunsets, hugging trees, sleeping under stars. You scroll through content creators who’ve done just that traveling the world, building tiny homes, teaching others how to “live with purpose.” And part of you wonders if that’s where real life is happening. And maybe it is. Or maybe, just maybe… you’re craving something not because it’s true to you, but because stillness feels unfamiliar. Maybe what you’re chasing isn’t freedom, it’s a feeling you’ve been too busy to name.
And here’s what I’ve learned:
Sometimes we seek adventure when what we actually need is rest.
Sometimes we chase validation, not purpose.
Sometimes, the urge to escape is really the soul asking to be witnessed.
And in a world of curated lives and shareable “authenticity,” it’s easy to get lost in what looks good instead of what feels true. I’m reminded of that Jung quote:
“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”
It’s a powerful reminder that our deepest growth doesn’t come from constant upgrading it comes from meeting ourselves, honestly, in the stillness. So ask yourself: Is your path unfolding from alignment or are you quietly trying to outrun something unresolved? Because maybe, just maybe you are already enough. Even without the next mountain to climb.
